Day of the African Child: A Call to Protect the Innocent in Times of Conflict
Every year on June 16, Africa commemorates the Day of the African Child, a solemn yet powerful reminder

West African Women Association (WAWA) – Nigeria Chapter is a non-governmental and non-profit organization committed to empowering women, youth, and the girl-child through sustainable development initiatives across Nigeria and West Africa. WAWA was established in 1983 under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) following Recommendation A/REC.1/5/83 of the Authority of Heads of State and Government and was created by the fifteen ECOWAS Member States to promote women’s participation in regional integration, economic development, and social advancement.
Officially registered in Nigeria in 2009, WAWA Nigeria Chapter operates as part of a regional network with National Chapters in all ECOWAS Member States, working collectively to promote unity, inclusion, leadership, and economic empowerment among women across West Africa.
To build a united and empowered community of women across West Africa who are economically independent, socially influential, and actively contributing to sustainable development in the region.
To promote the empowerment of women through agriculture, entrepreneurship, capacity building, and strategic partnerships, while advancing gender equality and improving livelihoods across West Africa.
